Year-End Checklist: Staff, Computers & Carts
Year-End Checklist: Staff, Computers & Carts
Summary: An essential end-of-year technology checklist for teachers and staff. Follow these steps to back up files, secure classroom devices, submit repair requests, and complete phone setup before summer break.
🚨 Retiring or Leaving the District?
If you are leaving TTSD or retiring, please return your laptop, iPad, and all accessories (power cords, wall adapters, dongles) directly to the IT Department at the District Office before your last official work day.
1. Back Up Important Files
Ensure all locally saved documents, bookmarks, and desktop files are backed up to the cloud.
Use Google Drive for Desktop to sync your Desktop, Documents, and Downloads folders.
Verify that critical files are visible on Google Drive on the Web.
2. Password & Account Security
3. Summer Computer & Device Policy
If you plan to take your TTSD-assigned laptop, Chromebook, or iPad home over the summer:
Verify the device is officially checked out to you by logging into your account in Destiny (our library catalog system).
Responsibility: You are responsible for the physical care, safety, and security of any district equipment taken off-site.
4. On-Site Device Storage (Teachers & Staff)
If you are not taking your computer or iPad home for the summer:
Bring the device and power cable to the school Library.
Staff will check in the device, label it with your name, and securely store it for fall setup.
Reminder: Leave document cameras, projectors, and monitors connected in your classroom.
5. Student Device Carts (Elementary Schools Only)
Please complete the following cart checkout procedures by June 9th:
Inventory & Order: Ensure student iPads/Chromebooks are organized in alphabetical order by student last name inside the cart.
Cleanliness: Direct students to gently remove any personal decorations or stickers from devices and cases.
Class Roster: Print a current class list from Synergy and tape it securely to the top of the cart.
Cart Return: Deliver the labeled, organized cart directly to the Library for summer storage and maintenance.
6. Damaged Equipment & Tech Repairs
Don't wait until Fall to report issues!
Inspect classroom technology (laptops, iPads, carts, cables, audio systems).
Submit a Tech Request Ticket for any broken or malfunctioning items before the last day of school so IT can repair or replacement them over the summer.
7. Update Phone & Voicemail Settings
Set an appropriate summer greeting on your phone line before leaving for the break:
