Best Practices for Setting up MFA for TTSD Accounts:
-
Using Google MFA
- MFA is automatically enabled on all TTSD Google Accounts: (also called "2-Step Verification" in Google)
- Use Authenticator Apps: #1 recommended method is to set up an authenticator apps (like Google Authenticator) on your TTSD iOS device > this will work even when you are NOT on Wifi/Internet (like in our schools where cell service is poor in some areas). - Send a code to your TTSD desk phone: Having your MFA code sent to your desk phone is a good idea if/when you do not have your phone available. You can receive this using Jabber (your software phone)
- Print Backup Codes: Generate and print a set of backup codes from your Google account settings. Store these codes in a secure but accessible location.
-
OPTIONAL: Use SMS: Generate verification codes that are sent to your cell phone or iOS.
- Overall Tips:
- Secure Your Phone: Ensure your phone is protected with a strong password/passcode, as it will be your primary device for receiving MFA codes.
- Keep Software Updated: Regularly update your phone's operating system and apps to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Monitor Account Activity: Regularly check your Google account’s security settings and activity logs for any unauthorized access attempts.
