Using Notability on an iPad to "Mark Up" a Document: Using Osmo with an iPad as a Doc Cam The Osmo is a $40 device that turns your iPad into a document camera. This video shows how to use the free Osmo projector app and a lightning cable to display your iPad screen as if it were a doc camera in Google Meet. Jamboard: How to use for Discrete Trial Instruction

Creating "Breakout Rooms" & "Polling" with Google Meet
Google Meet released their breakout rooms function to TTSD October 14, 2020. Updated: March 7, 2023: Updated "Option 1" below to include new functionality available on iPad. Breakout Rooms Option 1: You can launch Q&Q, breakout rooms, and polls from the geometric shapes icon (see screen shot above) within your Google Meet session on a Chromebook or computer. On the iPad, you can launch Polls and Q&A by tapping the button at the bottom of the screen and then the geometric shapes icon in the window that pops up. Google may add breakout room management down the road, but is it not supported as of March 7, 2023. See: Use breakout rooms in Google Meet documentation for details of use. Option 2: Google Meet Breakout Room Activity - with Google doc or Canvas Create a Page/Discussion/Assignment for students. Label and create a MAIN Google Meet for students to join: Use the "external tools" menu icon to add "Google Meet" Repeat step 2 for quantity of Breakout groups you want to have Assign students to each group (by random number, alpha, pre-assigned groups, etc.) Option 3: Google Meet with Pre-Assigned Canvas Groups Create group/s in Canvas based on pre-identified criteria (useful for commonly used groups of students, ie "table groups")This option is best used when groups will work together multiple times throughout the term. Create Assignment. Insert Google Meet link (using External Tools icon ("V") on the Canvas editor tool bar. "Assign" the age or assignment to the Group. Repeat #2 - #4 for each group to receive their own Meet link. These Meet links by group can be used multiple times.

“Invite” a Phone Number When You Host a Google Meet
Rather than scheduling a meeting in the future, the following guidance will allow TTSD staff to initiate a Google Meet video call or protected phone call. Visit: https://meet.google.com/ Click "Join or Start a Meeting" Leave the code BLANK. Click "Continue" Click "Join Now" (allow microphone and camera, if prompted) To CALL parents using this unique 10-digit phone number from your Google Meet session: In the upper right corner, click the Person icon Click "Add People" Click the "Call" tab at the top of the new window. Enter the parent's phone number. Click the Phone icon to call. Parent will be able to join the call via phone (no video...no need to keep your video on) Inviting a participant by phone. To invite others to join the VIDEO call: Click the "Copy joining info" Send this link to your recipients through email. When recipients click the link, you (the host) will need to "accept" them into the Meet.

Using Google Meet with Canvas
Google Meet is a Google service that allows for virtual meetings & chat. This article shows you how to start or join a Meet from within Canvas. What is Google Meet? Google Meet sessions (i.e. Conferencing) are a great way to connect with others who are far away. "Meets" are virtual meetings (for up to 100 attendees) that allow you to see and hear one another, share screens, chat and even record your sessions. Google Meet is available for all TTSD staff and students at this time. Details for appropriate use of Google Meets can be found here: TTSD Communication Guidelines, page 5. Option 1: Begin in Canvas: Create Calendar Event with "Meet" Invitations Create the Event: 1. Open TTSD Canvas (http://ttsd.instructure.com) using your TTSD account. 2. Click Calendar. 3. Create a new Canvas calendar event (Click "+"): Give your event a title & adjust date/time. Click "More Options" on the calendar event Use the "External Tools" icon on the editor tool bar Google Meet link appears... Complete your Event details Is this event for ALL sections or just a few? Do you want this even to repeat = duplicate 3. Click 5. Student will receive a Canvas calendar notification via email and will will appear on their Canvas calendar. 6. You will need to "Admit" students to the meet, thus please show up 5-10 min early to your Meeting to begin admitting students to the event. Join a Meet Event from within Canvas (students) Chromebooks - Web based 1. Visit http://ttsd.instructure.com in your browser. (or http://canvas.ttsdschools.org) 2. Click Calendar to find event. Open Event. Click "Join Google Meet" link within Event window. 3. If prompted, click "Accept" to give Google Meet access to your microphone and your camera. 4. Click "Join Meet" iPads - Canvas Student App 1. Open the Canvas Student app on your iPad. 2. Click "Calendar" icon along the bottom of the Canvas Student app. 3. Find event/day. Tap Event. Click "Join Google Meet" link within Event window. 4. If prompted, click "Accept" to give Google Meet access to your microphone and your camera. 5. Students will need to be admitted. Important Pros & Cons: See "Best Practice for Remote Conversations between Teacher & Students" Option 2: Begin in Google Calendar: Create Google Calendar Event & Add to Your Canvas Course Create your Google Calendar repeating event with video conferencing: Add Event to Canvas Course Option 3: Begin in Google Calendar: Create Google Calendar Event & Invite Students to the Event Note: With this option: All students should use their TTSD student account to participate in the Google Meet This will reduce/eliminate uninvited guests, as they would have to "ask to join" (which you would deny), but your invited students can enter without asking. The Meet will show up for students when they launch the Meet app on student iPads. (yay!) The Meet will show up for students when they go to meet.google.com on Chromebooks. (yay!) Since they have been explicitly invited, students don't have to "ask to join" the meet. Treat the Meet like a physical classroom with an open door. Students can get in even if you are not present.

Using Google Meet to Remotely View a User's Computer Screen
Technicians can use Google Meet to remotely view a user's COMPUTER screen when the user is outside of our district network. 1. Create a calendar invite with Google Meet option 2. Invite the user using their email address 3. Ask the user to check their email and join the meeting 4. Once joined, ask the user to Present Now and select Your entire screen. 5. In the popup window that opens, click on the small image of your screen and then click the "Share" button.
