"Restricted Access"
With TTSD moving to 1:1 for students (each student issued a device), there have been "learning occasions" when students have made choices with their technology devices that need redirection. This article steps staff through the process to move a student's account into a "Restricted Access" mode for a duration of time to help reinforce the appropriate use of their technology device. If/When a student is repeatedly breaking the technology rules outlined in our Students Rights & Responsibility Handbook or by parent request, it's possible to request that their student account/device be placed in a "restricted access" mode to help redirect them towards appropriate behavior. Below are the steps to set this up for a student: Teachers in the school/parents communicate to administrator (or designee) behavior issues with student and device. The administrator works with the counselor, dean, learning specialist, etc., on appropriate PBIS responses to correct behavior. As a short-term "intervention," a school administrator can place a Tech Request with the student's ID asking for the student to be placed in restricted access. The school technician will then move the student into the "Restricted Access" group for the pre-determined amount of time. Restricted Access Includes: Limited Internet access. Removal of the following sites and/or categories: Block Chat/Chat Extended Block Entertainment Block Gambling Block Games category Block Hate Speech Block Shopping/Auction Block Streaming Internet Radio and Media including YouTube And select other non-TTSD-instructional sites Curfew imposed from 11 pm-6 am

iPad : Best Practices for Charging and Cart Storage
iPads often get warm while in the cart charging. Best practice, according to apple, is to avoid overheating of the ipads. This will help prolong the battery life. We have put most iPads in cases to protect the exterior of the iPads, but unfortunately, those cases also make the iPads run hotter while charging. Apple recommends removing cases before charging, but with a lab of 30 or so devices, we know how impractical that would be. We do ask that you and your students get in the habit of doing the following two, easy steps, before putting them into the cart to charge, or before storing for a prolonged period. 1. Press the Home button to close the app that is currently running. 2. Press the Off/On Sleep/Wake button, once briefly, to lock the iPad. Long-Term Storage of Your iPad If you want to store your iPad long term, two key factors will affect the overall health of your battery: the environmental temperature and the percentage of charge on the iPad when it is powered down for storage. Therefore, we recommend the following: Place your iPad in a cool, moisture-free environment that is less than 90° F (30° C). Charge the battery to around 50%. Do not fully charge your iPad. Power down the iPad to avoid additional battery use. Depending on how long you store your iPad, it may be in a low-battery state when you remove it from long-term storage. After it is removed from storage, your iPad may require 20 minutes of charging with the original adapter before you can use it.

Note: Most of the apps that are assigned to your iPad will be found in the bottom list in the Library, or you can search for an app in the Search field at the top right, in the library.
